Irwin Landscaping: Turning Real-World Expertise Into a Brand, Content and Search Ecosystem

How a website redesign evolved into a much larger branding, video, photography, SEO and AI visibility strategy.

When we began working with Irwin Landscaping, the project could have been approached as a traditional website redesign.

New look. Better pages. Better mobile experience. Launch it and move on.

We deliberately took a different approach.

Irwin Landscaping is a full-service landscape design/build company with decades of real-world experience in landscape architecture, planting, hardscaping and specialty gardens. That expertise already existed inside the business. Our job was to capture it, organize it, brand it and turn it into digital assets that could keep working long after the new website launched. More Than a Website Redesign

The website was only the container. The real asset was the knowledge, experience and body of work behind Irwin Landscaping.

So the project expanded well beyond web design.

We redesigned the Irwin Landscaping logo and refined the overall brand presentation. We incorporated custom animation and motion into the website rather than relying entirely on an off-the-shelf template. We photographed real Irwin projects, real landscapes and real people.

And, most importantly, we got out of the office.

Rather than writing dozens of pages about landscaping from behind a computer, we met the Irwin team at completed projects and put them on camera.

We asked them to walk us through what they built, why they made certain design decisions, what challenges existed on the property, how landscapes change over time and what homeowners should understand before beginning a project.

That changed the entire content strategy.

Capture the Expert Instead of Trying to Sound Like One

There is an enormous amount of generic content on the internet.

Anyone can publish another article about “5 Landscaping Tips” or ask an AI platform to write 1,500 words about patios.

What is much harder to replicate is an experienced landscape professional standing inside a project they actually designed and explaining why it works.

That became the core of our strategy for Irwin.

We produced 11 long-form videos, including topics and project features such as Landscape Design Principle, Native & Non-Native Plants in Landscape Design, Pollinator Gardens, How a Meadow Evolves Over 3 Years, How We Bring Your Vision to Life, pool and outdoor-living property features, Native Landscaping, and an introduction to the people behind Irwin Landscaping.

Those aren’t simply social media videos.

They’re source material.

From the 11 primary videos, we developed approximately 35 new pages of website content, turning individual conversations, projects, questions and areas of expertise into permanent digital resources.

One production effort now has dozens of ways to be discovered.

Why We’re Investing So Heavily in Video

The strategy isn’t based on video being trendy. There is measurable business value behind it.

In Wyzowl’s 2026 video marketing research, 93% of video marketers said video improved customer understanding of their product or service, 82% said it increased website traffic, 82% said it helped keep visitors on their websites longer, 85% credited video with generating leads, and 83% said video directly increased sales. Among consumers, 85% said they had been convinced to purchase a product or service after watching a video. Wyzowl

Wistia’s 2026 research also found educational and tutorial content among the strongest video formats for maintaining viewer engagement — exactly the kind of material we’re producing with Irwin. Wistia

For a high-consideration service like landscape design and construction, that matters.

A prospective customer isn’t simply choosing who can install pavers or plant trees. They’re evaluating taste, expertise, communication, planning and whether they trust a company with a significant investment in their property.

Seeing and hearing the people who will actually be involved shortens that gap.

Original Content Matters More Than Ever

This strategy has become even more important as traditional search evolves into AI-powered search.

Google’s own 2026 guidance for appearing in generative AI search specifically emphasizes unique, valuable, non-commodity content, first-hand viewpoints and content that goes beyond information that could simply be reproduced by a generative AI model. Google also specifically recommends incorporating high-quality original images and video because those assets create additional opportunities to appear in both traditional and generative search experiences. Google for Developers

That is almost a perfect description of what we’re building for Irwin.

We’re not asking a copywriter to pretend they know what happened on a project.

We’re filming the person who designed it.

We’re photographing the actual property.

We’re documenting how the project evolved.

We’re capturing the decisions behind it.

We’re creating content that didn’t exist anywhere on the internet before we created it.

Google has similarly emphasized first-hand expertise, original information and substantial added value in its broader people-first content guidelines, while warning against simply summarizing what everybody else has already published.

That’s a major reason our content strategy has moved in this direction.

No Stock Landscapes Pretending to Be Irwin Landscapes

Photography was treated the same way.

We captured a large library of original photos from Irwin properties for use throughout the website, local listings, social media, future articles and marketing campaigns.

For a business like this, we don’t believe the website should be filled with stock photography of somebody else’s work.

If we’re talking about Irwin’s design capabilities, visitors should see Irwin’s designs.

If we’re talking about craftsmanship, they should see the details.

If we’re talking about the people behind the company, they should see those people.

The photography reinforces the same principle as the video: prove it instead of simply saying it.

Building the Site for Humans, Search Engines and AI Systems

Great source material is only one half of the equation.

The other half is structuring it correctly.

Each page receives its own search optimization rather than duplicating metadata across dozens of pages. That includes unique page titles, meta descriptions, substantial supporting copy, internal linking and properly structured content.

We also developed page-specific schema markup to provide machine-readable context about the information on each page.

Google explains that structured data helps its systems understand page content, while video structured data can make videos easier to discover and eligible for additional search experiences.

For video specifically, Google recommends unique titles and descriptions, accessible video content, metadata and dedicated pages where appropriate. Video can surface across traditional Google results, Video Search, Images and Discover.

That makes our video library much more valuable than simply having eleven uploads sitting on YouTube.

The videos become part of the information architecture of the website.

And where factual claims or educational information benefit from additional context, we cite trustworthy outside resources rather than publishing unsupported statements. Google itself recommends linking users to relevant, trustworthy resources when those sources add context or corroborate what’s being discussed.

Unique titles. Unique metadata. Original photography. Original video. Robust written content. Machine-readable structured data. Internal linking. Authoritative citations.

Those are some of the things we’re happy to tell you about.

We’re not publishing the entire playbook.

One Piece of Content Should Never Live in One Place

The strategy also doesn’t end on IrwinLandscaping.com.

The content is being distributed.

Videos are published to YouTube. Portions can be repurposed across social channels. Photography, updates and project information can support Google and other local listings. Interviews can become website articles and project pages.

Then we take the strategy another step.

We cross-publish and feature relevant Irwin content through Delaware Beaches Online, giving the company another locally relevant publishing platform, additional exposure, referral traffic and links back into Irwin’s website.

That’s an important part of what we consider our secret sauce.

Google primarily discovers new pages through links from pages it already knows, and says links remain an important signal for understanding relevance and discovering content.

So rather than creating an Irwin article, publishing it once and hoping somebody eventually finds it, we’re building a small ecosystem around it.

Irwin’s expertise becomes a video. The video becomes website content. The website content becomes additional search opportunities. The assets become social content. The photography supports local visibility. Selected stories get another audience through DBO. And all of those pieces reinforce the brand.

That is very different from simply “doing SEO.”

11 Videos Became 35 New Opportunities to Be Found

This is the part of the project we’re especially excited about.

11 original long-form videos became approximately 35 new website pages.

Not 35 pages created just because somebody told us publishing more pages is good for SEO.

Thirty-five pages built around actual projects, actual questions, actual expertise and actual conversations with the client.

That distinction matters.

Search engines are getting better at recognizing the difference, AI systems need quality source material to reference, and — most importantly — customers can tell the difference too.

A Brand That Can Keep Growing

We don’t view launch day as the finish line for Irwin Landscaping.

The website, branding and content library are infrastructure for what comes next.

We’ll continue capturing projects. We’ll continue interviewing the team. We’ll continue photographing finished work. We’ll develop additional case studies and educational resources as new opportunities appear. We’ll continue distributing that content across the website, search, local listings, social platforms, YouTube and DBO.

And we’ll continue evaluating what is actually creating business value.

Because the goal isn’t simply to keep the website “fresh.”

The goal is to make Irwin Landscaping easier to understand, easier to trust and easier to find — while building a library of original content that becomes more valuable over time.

That’s what a modern website project should look like.

Not just a prettier website. A stronger brand, a deeper content library and a digital footprint built around the one thing competitors can’t copy: the client’s actual experience.

I intentionally did not claim ranking increases, traffic growth or lead increases for Irwin yet because we don’t have verified before/after analytics in what you gave me. I think that actually makes this case study stronger — it’s very clear what Syndicate built without inventing an ROI number. Once we have 60–90 days of Search Console/GA4 data, this case study gets substantially stronger with a Results section.
