Optimize Your Content Using This Free SEO Tool
You’ve optimized your website content, you’ve published it, and throw it out into the ether? But now what? Do you just cross your fingers and hope for the best? Do you just forget about it after you hit that publish button and never look at it again? While sage advice will tell you that you can’t change the past, content marketing is one area of life where you can go back and re-optimize your past content as the times change.
Many SEO companies will go through your title tags and meta descriptions to better optimize them. They may run some tests and improve your site speed. They may even create new content for you each month. After making the necessary improvements to your website’s SEO, many of these companies simply let the old content coast without updating and re-optimizing it. If they aren’t doing that, they are wasting your precious time and hard-earned money.
Going back in and re-optimizing old content is one of the most important things you can do to make your site more SEO-friendly. But how do you do it? Tools like SEMrush and HREFs can do it for you, but in reality, all you need is the Google Search Console. Here’s a quick guide on how to use this free tool
How to Use the Google Search Console Tool
On the Google Search Console dashboard, click on the Performance tab on the left side of the screen. Under the chart, click on the Pages tab and you’ll be able to view the impression to click ratio for each of the pages on your website. If a page has lots of impressions but very few clicks, you probably need to update the title tag and meta description to make it more appealing to your audience.
Run a query for the page, and you’ll be able to see which keywords worked well for that page. It’s a simple way for you to understand which words you can use to help boost your content to the top of the search results.
